More than 2,000 fans have packed
into a Sydney department store to catch a glimpse of American
pop star Beyonce Knowles, in Sydney to promote a new perfume.
The 23-year-old posed for photos and signed autographs for
people who bought a bottle of the perfume, saying she was
involved in developing the fragrance.
"I smelled everything," she said, listing rice pudding as one of
the key inspirations.
Knowles is just one of a number of big name stars who have lent
their names to a perfume or make-up product.
Others include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Britney Spears and Jennifer
Lopez.
And it is rumoured Paris Hilton will venture 'Down Under' later
this year to launch a fragrance.
Knowles is one third of US group Destiny's Child. Along with
Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, the trio launched the
Australian leg of Destiny Child's world tour in Brisbane.
They play Sydney before performances in Adelaide and Melbourne.
"I want to walk over that (Harbour) bridge ... and go to the
beach," she said of her plans while in Australia.
Nineteen-year-old Sydneysider Libby Rowland waited from 8am (AEST)
to get Beyonce's autograph at 5.30pm (AEST).
"I have loved her for ages," a teary Rowland said.
"It has been a dream come true to meet her."
High school student Antony Kontellis was overwhelmed by the
meeting.
"I have been a huge fan since way back in 1999," Kontellis, 17,
said.
"She is absolutely beautiful and so nice and so worth the wait."

The hottest must have cosmetic
surgery? The Beyonce Nip & Butt!!
First it was noses; then breasts,
lips, even feet. Now British women are flocking to have cosmetic
surgery on an entirely different area of the body. Cosmetic
surgeons are reporting a sharp increase in the number of
patients signing up for one of the most surprising procedures to
date: buttock augmentation.
Enamoured with the voluptuous
figures of celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé
Knowles, growing numbers of British women are deciding to part
with the thousands of pounds needed to swell their lower curves,
with the help of expensive silicone implants.
The phenomenal rise of the "rump
plump", demand for which has increased tenfold over the past two
years, according to one high-profile Harley Street physician,
follows a sweeping trend on the other side of the Atlantic. The
American Society for Plastic Surgery has reported a fivefold
increase in the past year.
Jeya Prakash, a leading cosmetic
surgeon who has been conducting buttock enhancement operations
for nearly a decade, says the operation was once so unusual he
did no more than one a year. Now he is conducting one
enhancement a fortnight.
"Since Jennifer Lopez came into
the field, people have begun to really like that South
American-style shape," said Mr Prakash. It's about the curviness
and a balance of sexiness, like a Renaissance painting."
The procedure itself, which can
take as little as 40 minutes, involves sliding silicone implants
or fat removed from elsewhere in the body beneath muscles in the
upper buttocks, making them firmer and more pronounced.
A leading surgeon like Mr Prakash
would typically charge between £6,000 and £9,000 for the
operation.
Another leading London-based
cosmetic surgeon, Douglas Harrison, said he too had noted a
significant increase in clients requesting buttock enhancement.
"It is relatively common now,"
said Mr Harrison. "European women have become increasingly aware
that nicely rounded buttocks are more attractive to the male eye
than the flat ones you see on models. In the northern
hemisphere, we used to think of beauty in terms of big breasts;
now we are starting to realise buttocks are important too."
A team of cosmetic surgeons has
even identified the dimensions of the most desirable female
bottom. Writing in the latest edition of the medical journal
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery this week, they conclude that the key
factor is the distance that the bottom sticks out horizontally,
the so-called anteroposterior projection. The "lateral
depression", the "intragluteal fold" (the crease where the
buttock meets the leg) and the "supragluteal fossettes", the two
gentle depressions at the top of the buttocks, also feature
significantly.
The growing trend for buttock
augmentation forms only part of a cosmetic surgery boom. The
British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgeons claims that
women underwent 15,019 procedures in the UK last year, compared
with 9,916 in 2003. Bupa also reported a 32 per cent increase in
cosmetic surgery operations in its hospitals in 2004.
The Independent on Sunday spoke
to two women who had recently undergone successful buttock
augmentation operations. Both wished to disguise their
identities.
Kate, a 38-year-old mother of one
from Kent, underwent buttock enhancement surgery with London
specialists Rubicon Medical last year. She described herself as
"over the moon" with the results. "I am very, very satisfied. I
wear size eight jeans, but whereas before my buttocks looked
totally flat, now they look excellent," she said. "Different
people have said how great they look in trousers; it's
definitely a Kylie bum now."
Mary, a 32-year old from London,
underwent surgical enhancement four months ago. "My sister and
all my friends had fuller, more curvy buttocks, and it had
played on my mind for a long time," she said. "Now I feel really
happy with what I've got. My bum looks bigger, more pert and
more sexy. The operation cost £5,800, but it was definitely
money well spent."

Beyonce to play Bob Dylan,
The 'Bootlicious' singer is one of several
black female stars being considered to play Dylan in a biopic of
his life after the director, Todd Haynes, announced he was
searching for a woman to do justice to the white Jewish singer's
"inner blackness". Seven actors - including the black woman -
will portray Dylan during different eras in his 43-year career,
starting in the 1960s when his song, 'The Times They Are Changin'
became an anti-war anthem. Other female stars in line to play
Dylan include tennis champion Venus Williams and TV presenter
Oprah Winfrey.
Although it is quite common in film
biopics for characters to be played by more then one actor, it
is extremely rare for them to change sex or race. Haynes, whose
previous work has earned him an Oscar nomination, says he wants
to hire various actors to take on the role as Dylan was "too
complex" to be played by a conventional actor.
He added: "I am setting out to explode the
idea that anybody can be depicted in a single self." However,
producers at Paramount, who will make the film, are not entirely
convinced the bold move will pay off.
One said: Dylan has always acknowledged
his debt to blues gospel, but critics may say there are other
ways of celebrating the African-American musical heritage. Todd
is, however, a serious film maker and we are confident that he
will treat it all with respect. We hope."

Moby attacks Beyonce? Yup looks like it.
Moby is waging a war of words with Beyonce Knowles after
criticizing her for teaming up with designer Tommy Hillfiger to
put out a new cosmetic line. The outspoken dance music star who
has been feuding with Eminem from a while back accuses Beyonce
of lending her name to Hillfiger's new fragrance True Star.
Moby rants: "I see so many public
figures just gratuitously lending their names to products that I
really don't understand, I just wonder why like Beyonce doing
this Tommy Hillfiger thing and isn't it enough to have $50
million?"
Moby however insists he doesn't mean to
single the Destiny's Child star out and feels it wouldn't be
good because Jay-Z (boyfriend) and Damon Dash would get
involved. He adds "I'd find myself at the bottom of the Hudson
River"
Yea ok Moby...this guy is truly a
homosexual. I hope Jay-Z beats his ass for his comments. That
guy can't seem to keep his mouth shut, what an idiot. Don't get
mad buddy just because nobody listens to your garbage music
trash. Eminem already destroyed your career.

Usher Live was a misleading title for
the superstar's Showtime special broadcast live from El Coliseo
de Puerto Rico Saturday night (March 5). That's because Usher
wasn't the only star on stage during the 90-minute extravaganza
that was broadcast around the world during Showtime's free
preview weekend.
During the performance, Usher shot down
rumors of a crazy lifestyle, saying that all he's addicted to is
music and his fans. The superstar added that he's a businessman
first, and said that this would be his last performance of the
year so he can focus on his film career, his new record label,
and his part-ownership in the Cleveland Cavaliers. Producer
Jermaine Dupri made an appearance at the concert, and Beyonce
came onstage to dance--but not sing--with Usher during his song
Bad Girl.
Usher really worked the Puerto Rico
angle during one number, peppering his stage patter with shouts
of Puerto Rico! and Boricua!--which is what Puerto Ricans
proudly call themselves--while waving a huge Puerto Rican flag.
Puerto Rican reggaeton star Daddy Yankee came out to sing a
little of his hit Gasolina, only to be followed immediately by
Nuyorican rapper Fat Joe, who came out to sing Lean Back. For
the finale, Usher sang his super-hit Yeah with rapper Ludacris
joining him on stage.
During another song, the pop superstar
came onstage wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball jersey and
cap and said, So I guess you guys heard about the Cleveland
Cavaliers deal right? We got the number one championship team in
the world...we're going to take it to the top of the world,
yeah. Then, to the delight of the audience he threw the cap and
his sweaty jersey into the crowd. Usher joined a group of
investors who purchased the NBA team recently.
Usher ended the show by announcing this
would be his last live performance for the year. He said, This
last year has been amazing, all of the awards, all of the
recognition, but it does not go unnoticed. And it wasn't easy,
and it's not easy as you continue to move forward in your
career, knowing you have so many loved fans that you may
possibly walk away from when you could go to the next step of
your life...I get choked up...this is my last show this year,
man.
The superstar also addressed rumors of a
wild lifestyle saying, I know you hear a lot of hearsay about
this and that. Some negativity, some positivity. I don't do
drugs, but I'm addicted to music, I'm addicted to y'all. This is
what I love.
